Expeditions are basically big quests with extra steps.
Instead of doing one thing and instantly getting your shiny reward, you travel through an Expedition Path,
complete every section, survive the whole thing, and then get paid.
Simple.
Mostly.
Every Expedition has its own Expedition Path.
Think of it like a route made of multiple sections.
You must complete the entire path to finish the Expedition and receive your rewards.
If you make it to the end:
Congrats. Loot acquired. Dopamine delivered.
If you don't...
Well.
We'll get to that.

Possible Expedition rewards include:
Basically: useful stuff.
But there is one tiny, definitely-not-important catch.
⚠️ All rewards earned during an Expedition are pending until you successfully finish it.
If you die or abandon the Expedition, you lose all pending rewards.
Yes. All of them.
🤓 Nerd note:
"Pending reward" means:
You earned it, but it isn't actually yours yet.
It's basically sitting behind glass until you finish the Expedition.
Die before extraction?
Glass gone.
Reward gone.
Pain remains.
The Expedition Path is the sequence of sections you move through during an Expedition.
Different Expeditions can mix different types of sections.
Available Path Types:
Story-related sections.
Characters talk.
Lore happens.
You may even read it.
Something happens.
Could be good.
Could be bad.
Could be the developers deciding peace was getting boring.
Stuff.
You like stuff.
Take stuff.
Something wants to make your health bar smaller.
Deal with it.
You have a job to do.
Do the thing.
Number goes up.
Brain happy.
The beautiful finish line.
Reach extraction successfully and your pending rewards become actual rewards.
🤓 Nerd note:
Until you extract, your rewards are basically:
Schrödinger's loot.
You have them.
But also...
you really don't.
An Expedition can combine any of these Path Types depending on how it was designed.
So one Expedition might be:
Story → Loot → Encounter → Objective → Extract
while another could be:
Event → Encounter → Encounter → Regret → Extract
Okay, Regret isn't an official Path Type.
Yet.
